As a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a B.A. in Occupational Science and an M.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida, I began my professional career working with a geriatric population in a skilled nursing setting. Since that time, I have gained extensive experience across a variety of settings, including independent living, assisted living, and outpatient facilities.
Throughout my career, I observed how edema and lymphedema can significantly impact an individual's function and quality of life. Following my own personal experience with breast cancer, I further expanded my skill set through specialized training and became proficient in lymphatic treatment. Additionally, recognizing a gap in emotional care and practical support during a client's cancer journey, I developed a support program as a breast cancer doula.
As a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) and breast cancer doula, I am dedicated to developing comprehensive, individualized programs that promote optimal health and wellness. In my breast cancer doula work, I provide compassionate, supportive, and collaborative care during what can be a highly challenging and stressful time. As I discuss in my article published in OT Practice, empathy is a cornerstone of my approach throughout the therapeutic process.
