Join longtime yoga teachers Theresa Murphy, hospice volunteer, and Annie Moyer, interfaith chaplain, as they uncloak death through safe and honest discussion and practice. Discussions explore how death talk has become culturally taboo, how capitalistic powers purposely shield us from connecting with the deep truth of death, and how our culture can positively reclaim death as an honorable rite of passage. Theresa & Annie offer a re-framing of how we consider, discuss, and meet death – in the interest of courageously being fully present for our beloveds who are dying, in grieving our losses like mature humans, and in preparing to graciously meet our own inevitable truth in death. Practice will incorporate gentle movement, breathwork and meditation to prepare for an experiential savasana to honor the discussions and contemplations around this ultimate and sacred passage.

The ghost tour is for all ages, just the right amount of spooky, no jump scares!

Given that we are already outside, Fairfax City ghost tours are an incredibly safe way to get out and about. Tours will happen weather permitting.

Homecoming is coming to Old Town Fairfax!

Kick off Homecoming weekend with our City Crawl! In partnership with the City of Fairfax and the annual Chocolate Festival, this evening event invites Patriots and community members to explore 10 participating Old Town locations, each offering special deals on food and beverages for registered Crawlers.

Once the busy holidays fade, winter can feel tedious. “Why does nature insist on repeating this fallow season?” we wonder. But perhaps the deeper question is why we resist it, year after year. It can be hard to trust that winter offers something essential when its lessons feel uncomfortable. You may notice guilt around rest, boredom masked by unhealthy habits, or a quiet sadness kept hidden even from those closest to you. And yet, when we open ourselves to winter’s reality, unexpected resources can emerge. This half-day retreat invites us into the practice of “wintering,” a concept popularized by Katherine May in Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times. Rather than withdrawing alone, bring your winter self into community and explore the quieter, colder landscapes of the heart. The day includes grounding yoga and breathwork, guided and silent meditation, a sound bath, and time for reflection and sharing. Light snacks, warm teas, and all yoga props are provided.
