Fairfax City named as one of the 10 best small town arts scenes in the nation

The people have spoken: Fairfax City is one of the 10 best small town arts scene in the nation. This city of 25,000 residents in the heart of Northern Virginia placed fourth in USA Today 10BEST’s 2026 Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Small Town Arts Scene.

The city is known throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for its vibrant festivals, free concerts, and diverse arts culture. Even the City of Fairfax Cue bus transportation gets in the act, with buses wrapped in colorful Art Deco designs that serve as rolling murals.

Nominations were carefully curated by a panel of subject matter experts and USA Today 10BEST editors before being voted on by the public.
